After two decades spent living and working in the developing world as a journalist, lecturer and policy advisor, Dr John Rapley returned to the UK in 2012. The author of several academic books and dozens of papers on political economy, he now lectures at the Centre of Development Studies at the University of Cambridge.
John has written for many North American and European publications and is the author of two books for general readers – Twilight of the Money Gods, published by Simon & Schuster, and Why Empires Fall (written with Peter Heather), published in 2023 by Allen Lane / Penguin.
