Clare Israel

In 2017 I  joined DHA following a 15 years career in various creative and commercial roles in the TV industry. Regardless of the job I have always found the most rewarding and inspiring aspect to be supporting and nurturing the creatives and ideas of people who make TV happen.

I am actively building  a list of scriptwriters and work with both established career writers who’s main needs might be contractual and career support through to those at the earlier end of their journey, who need everything from creative input to industry introductions. I am a hands-on agent who loves to get stuck in at the ideas stage, helping guide and support writers through the whole of a script’s journey, and then carefully matching them with the best producing partners to form long term relationships with.

I also manage the book to screen/stage rights for many of DHA’s authors across every genre, including Val McDermid, Belinda Bauer, Anne Fine, Nick Sharratt, Mo Hayder, Nikita Gill, Dylan Thomas, Raymond Antrobus, Benjamin Myers, Milly Johnson, Jessie Keane, and William Hussey.

I am assisted by Jem Dryer.

On the lookout for

I love drama and comedy-drama that is elevated in some way, whether it’s a thriller, grounded sci-fi/speculative, horror or genre mash-up (including comedy and romance). I love a series that has something to say about the world we live in and examines the social politics and the psychology of the human race (which is endlessly fascinating), but that is highly entertaining and plotty, with well-rounded, complex characters. A unique perspective is always welcome.

Favourite recent(-ish) series have been Annika, Severance, The Fall of the House of Usher, Am I Being Unreasonable, Boat Story, Manhunt, Boy Swallows Universe, Big Boys, Des, and The Twelve.

I also love a comedy, but am not actively looking for writers in this space.

To apply for representation please read the submissions guidelines first, and then if you think we’d make a good match please send your submission to cisubmissions@davidhigham.co.uk. I receive lots of applications and have to prioritise existing clients so please bear with me for a response, and if you don’t hear back from us within 6 weeks please assume you have been unsuccessful.
