Professor Kristina Spohr works in the Department of International History at the London School of Economics. She was the inaugural holder of the Helmut Schmidt Distinguished Chair at the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs, Johns Hopkins University, in 2019.
She has a particular interest in post-war Europe and is the author of several books including her landmark exploration of the global exit from the Cold War in the period 1988–92, researched and written with the aid of a Leverhulme grant. Post Wall, Post Square was published by HarperCollins in the UK and by Yale in the US.
Her previous books include an acclaimed study of the former German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, The Global Chancellor, and a collection of essays she co-edited with David Reynolds, Transcending the Cold War (both OUP).
Kristina is now working on a major new history of the Arctic, for Basic Books in the US and UK.
