Jane Rogoyska’s work explores conflict, exile, memory and politics in twentieth-century Europe. Her latest book, Hotel Exile: Paris in the Shadow of War (Allen Lane, February 2026) tells the story of three groups of people connected to the legendary Hotel Lutetia in Paris between 1933 and 1945. Hotel Exile has been longlisted for the Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction 2026 and will be published in Canada in May 2026 (Knopf) and the US in July (W. W. Norton).

Her previous books include Surviving Katyń: Stalin’s Polish Massacre and the Search for Truth (Oneworld), winner of the prestigious Mark Lynton History Prize and longlisted for the RSL Ondaatje Prize; the critically acclaimed biography Gerda Taro: Inventing Robert Capa, now the subject of a film adaptation; and a novel, Kozłowski, longlisted for the Desmond Elliott Prize. She also wrote and presented Still Here: A Polish Odyssey for BBC Radio 4.

Jane studied Modern Languages at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and film in Leeds and Łódź, Poland. She lives in London.
