Anna Metcalfe was born in Germany. Her short fiction has been published in The Best of British Short Stories, The Dublin Review and Lighthouse Journal, among other places, and has been shortlisted for the Bridport Short Story Prize and the Sunday Times Short Story Award. Her first book, Blind Water Pass, was published by John Murray in 2016, and her debut novel, Chrysalis, was published in 2023 by Granta in the UK, and Random House in the US. She was selected for the Granta Best of Young British Novelists list in 2023, which highlights twenty of the most significant British writers under forty. She lectures in Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham.
