Vanessa Chan is the Malaysian author of two books, a novel, to be published in sixteen languages, about a discontented housewife who becomes an unlikely spy for the invading forces of Japan during WWII, and a story collection about feral girls in post-colonial Malaysia trying to solve the mysteries of their bloodlines, both forthcoming from Marysue Rucci Books. Her other work has been published in Conjunctions, Electric Lit, Kenyon Review, Ecotone, and more. Vanessa has received scholarship support from the Sewanee, Tin House, and Bread Loaf writers conferences, and is the co-curator of Pete’s Reading Series in Brooklyn.
