Rachel Shabi is a journalist and broadcaster whose work has appeared in the Guardian, the New York Times, Independent, The Times and the New York Review of Books, among other papers and journals. She has reported extensively on the Israeli–Palestinian conflict and the wider Middle East, including the uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia. Now London-based and covering current affairs, she is also a regular commentator across broadcast media, including BBC News, Sky News, CNN, Al Jazeera English and BBC World Service.
She was a finalist for the George Orwell prize in 2013 and received the Anne Lindh Award for reporting across cultures and the International Media Awards Cutting Edge Journalism Prize, both in 2011.
Her critically acclaimed book, Not the Enemy: Israel’s Jews from Arab Lands, was published in the UK, US and Germany and received a US National Jewish Book award.
Rachel’s new book on antisemitism, Off-White, will be published by Oneworld in November 2024.
