AJ Pearce
AJ Pearce was born in Hampshire, UK. (AJ stands for Amanda-Jane although no one ever calls her that). She majored in American History at the University of Sussex, including a Junior Year at Northwestern University in Illinois, USA.
AJ was working in marketing when a chance discovery of a 1939 women’s magazine became the inspiration for her funny, poignant and uplifting series set in a wartime London.
Her debut novel Dear Mrs Bird was a Sunday Times Bestseller in 2018. It was shortlisted for the British Book Awards Debut of the Year, the Royal Society of Literature’s Christopher Bland prize and the Historical Writers’ Association Debut Crown for best historical debut. A Richard and Judy Book Club pick, it has been published in over twenty countries.
Dear Mrs Bird was followed in 2021 by Yours Cheerfully and Mrs Porter Calling in 2023. The final book in the series will be published in 2025.
AJ regularly appears at literary festivals and events across the UK, which have included Cheltenham, Henley, Durham, Chipping Norton, The British Library and The Imperial War Museum.
