Ru is a Midlands based writer with a vast array of experiences that give her a unique perspective. Amongst other things, she’s been a teacher, a military officer who’s seen active service in Afghanistan, and an NHS A&E doctor.

Ru was a finalist in the BBC Casualty NHS Heroes Writing Competition, shortlisted for the Studio 21 Drama Series Competition 2023 and 2024, and has been selected for the 2024 WFTV Kay Mellor Screenwriters’ Lab.

Ru tends towards pacy, elevated, character-rich TV drama that draws on her extensive life experience, with a particular interest in themes that challenge and explore the grey areas found in morality, justice and the value we place in society – and the value it places on us.
