Dr Becca Voelcker
Becca Voelcker is a historian of visual culture. She earned a PhD from Harvard University in 2021, working across film studies, art history, and social anthropology. She is currently based in the UK and lectures at Goldsmiths, University of London. In 2024, Becca was named a BBC New Generation Thinker. Published by the University of California Press in 2025, her first book, Land Cinema in an Age of Extraction, is a cross-cultural history of eco-political cinema based in ten locations including rural Wales, where Becca grew up, and Japan, where she lived as a young adult.
Becca is currently working on a new book about collective identity.
