Sam joined David Higham Associates in 2025 from HarperCollins, where he had previously worked as a Contracts Assistant working on English-language contracts and foreign licensing deals. Before this, he had completed internships at the Brink Literacy Project and Peters, Fraser and Dunlop, and worked in bookselling and proofreading. Before entering publishing, Sam had worked as a secondary school teacher in ‘challenging’ schools and as a private tutor.

Sam is responsible for drafting and negotiating foreign rights contracts for all languages except English. He also handles translation permission requests. He assists all translation agents with contract management and administration.
