Laura Davis was born in The Potteries, educated in Dublin and Nottingham, and eventually moved to the North East, where she remains.
She grew up wanting to be a writer, but life intervened.
She worked as a blackjack dealer, a jazz singer and a tarot card reader. All of these occupations were thoroughly agreeable, but rarely paid the bills. So, she took a degree in Fine Art and became a painter, but soon found out that this, too, could lead to penury. Teaching Art and Design was more lucrative, but she found it tedious and exhausting. Something had to change …
She took refuge in writing, which was what she had wanted to do in the first place.
She believes in magic and kindness, chocolate and good coffee, true friendship and, of course, cats.
