Whether she was lost in a book or out on a horse, Louise Greig spent her childhood consumed by reading and a deep connection with nature. For Louise, picture books provide a unique lens to explore the human condition, condensing vast, universal themes into safe and evocative metaphors for children. She believes picture books ‘say big things to small people’ and feels privileged to inhabit a world that bridges the gap between simple wonder and emotional complexity.
Louise has won the Manchester Writing for Children Competition, as well as the Caterpillar Poetry and Short Story Prizes. Her acclaimed picture books have been shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the Klaus Flugge Prize. Notable works include Sweep! illustrated by Julia Sarda, which was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal, and her celebrated adaptation of The Little Prince, now translated into over 20 languages.
