S. K. Perry
S. K. Perry is a fiction writer and poet from Croydon. In 2013 she was long-listed for London’s Young Poet Laureate and was Cityread Young Writer in Residence in Soho in 2014. Her short story ‘A Wide Neon Yell’ won the Berlin Writing Prize, 2019. Her writing has taken her all around the world leading creative writing workshops that develop emotional literacy, and explore mental health, memory, and healing from violence. She qualified on the Spoken Word Education Programme in 2015 with a distinction in the Goldsmiths Writer/Teacher MA.
S. K. Perry’s debut novel, Let Me Be Like Water, is published in the UK and the US by Melville House. It was longlisted for the Ondaatje Prize, picked for City Reads 2019 and the first draft was shortlisted for the Mslexia Fiction Award.
She lives in Leeds and is currently undertaking a practice-based research PhD in creative writing.
