Amol Rajan is a radio and television presenter for the BBC, working on Radio 4’s flagship news programme, Today, as well as Start the Week, Any Answers, and The One Show on BBC One. In 2023 he took over as the presenter of the long-running quiz programme University Challenge.

Before joining the BBC as Media Editor, Amol was Editor of the Independent newspaper, having worked there since 2007. He studied English at Downing College, Cambridge after spending his gap year at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

Amol’s first book, a history of cricket’s greatest spin-bowlers entitled Twirlymen, was published by Yellow Jersey Press (Penguin Random House). He has also published a book version of his popular and acclaimed radio series, Rethink, for BBC Books.

He lives with his family in London.
