The Restless Republic by Anna Keay and What Good are the Arts?  by John Carey have been ranked as two of the best 25 non-fiction books of the 21st century by the Times.

Anna’s ‘gloriously entertaining and scholarly book’, which was also shortlisted for the Baillie Gifford prize in 2022, brings England’s 1650s into ‘chaotic and colourful life’. It is a personal, enchanting, and fair depiction of one of the most extraordinary periods of English history.
