Eilis O’Neal is a writer of young adult fantasy and science fiction. She is the author of The False Princess, which was an American Library Association YALSA Best Fiction for Young Adults selection, among other honors. Her short fantasy has appeared in Strange Horizons, Fantasy Magazine, Lady Churchill’s Rosebud Wristlet, Realms of Fantasy, and other publications.

Before becoming a full-time writer, she worked with literary magazine Nimrod International Journal for twenty-four years. She served as Editor-in-Chief for ten of those, with a focus on the journal’s mission to publish poetry and short fiction by new writers and writers from historically marginalized groups.

Eilis wrote her first story when she was three years old (though it was only four sentences long), and her middle name is Arwen, which is what sometimes happens when Tolkien-obsessed parents name children. She is an avid reader, hiker, puzzle-worker, board-gamer, and general geek. She lives with her husband and two very silly dogs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she is always trying to find space for more bookcases in her house.
