Emma has been writing for children for 25 years, since she began her working life at BBC Magazines. Her books have won awards, including Children’s Sports Book of the Year 2025 (The Life-Changing Magic of Skateboarding, co-written with Sky Brown; Magic Cat), Kirkus stars (The Women Who Won the Vote; Union Square) and have been sold in multiple territories worldwide.

Her particular expertise is in non-fiction and narrative non-fiction with novelty and/or highly illustrated content, but she can turn her pen to any topic and any age group. She has written books on Ancient Egypt, dragons, Jane Austen, neuroscience, mindfulness, Shakespeare, the International Space Station, unicorns, Arthur Conan Doyle, cells, football, fairies, the Olympics, mycology, basketball, geography and more.
