Erin Maglaque is a historian and critic. She has a D.Phil in History from the University of Oxford, and has held research fellowships and visiting professorships at Oxford, Harvard, the University of Toulouse, and the National Humanities Center in the U.S. Her research has focused on the history of gender, the body, and the family. She has published award-winning research articles on these subjects, and an academic monograph about gender and family life in early modern Venice that was widely reviewed.

Erin writes regularly about history, gender, and feminism for the London Review of Books, the New York Review of Books, the New York Times Book Review, and the New Statesman. Her essays have been translated into multiple languages. She has presented on Free Thinking for BBC Radio 3, the LRB Podcast, and NPR.

She is currently writing a book on the history of the female body.
