Geen Jones
Geen Jones is an illustrator that grew up in the West Midlands, UK, which is where she currently lives with her partner and cat. After completing her BA in Illustration at Birmingham City University, she travelled all over the UK and Europe selling her artwork. She developed her own business, ‘Geeniejay’, over 12 years that specialised in merchandise and giftware and sold all over the world. In 2022, Geen was invited to return to BCU as an Illustration Lecturer, which subsequently led to rediscovering her first love of creating stories.
Geen loves the excitement of imperfection and unpredictability that comes with analogue materials. She experiments with textures and colour to capture emotion and atmosphere. Her love of folklore, folk art and anything strange or unusual often feeds into her work through quirky characters and intriguing adventures. She loves to inject whimsy and weirdness wherever she can and aims to encourage others to see things a bit differently. She is also passionate about animals and nature and can often be found staring at some sort of creature if she isn’t staring into her sketchbook.
