Jill Mansell grew up in the Cotswolds and attended Sir William Romney’s School in Tetbury. After working at the Burden Neurological Institute in Bristol for many years, she became a full-time novelist in 1992.
Jill has sold 16 million copies of her books worldwide. These are romantic comedies, feel good fiction with added drama, often addressing serious issues but with happy endings guaranteed. Over the years her novels have been translated into over 30 languages and the majority have been Sunday Times bestsellers.
In 2011, Take a Chance on Me won the Romantic Novelists’ Association romantic comedy prize.
In 2012, To The Moon and Back was shortlist for their contemporary romantic novel award.
In 2015, the RNA presented Jill with an outstanding achievement award.
In 2026, An Almost Perfect Summer was shortlisted in the inaugural romantic fiction category at the British Book Awards.
Also in 2026, An Almost Perfect Summer won the romantic bestseller category at the DNA awards.
Jill has also appeared twice and managed not to disgrace herself on the popular BBC TV Show, Pointless Celebrities.
