Joanna Oldman grew up in Surrey, where she spent her childhood climbing trees, building dens and reading adventure stories. She has a Master’s in English from Edinburgh University. Since then, she has worked in various roles in the medical and charitable sectors and is currently training to become a counsellor. She is passionate about storytelling, and the value of creative writing and reading for pleasure for mental health.
She loves to travel and has been lucky enough to visit some of the wondrous worlds in which her books are set. A nature lover and seeker of joy in the little things, her ‘Desert Island Book’ would be Shipwrecked by Jenny Pearson and Nick East, and her favourite word is ‘serendipity’.
The second of four sisters, she lives in Southwest London, where she enjoys reading, gardening, long walks, and spending as much time as possible with the people she loves
