Lauren Mooney is a writer from the East Midlands, now based in London. Her debut novel, Service, will be published by Bonnier in 2026.

Since 2015, Lauren has co-run award-winning Kandinsky Theatre Company with director James Yeatman. Her credits as a writer and dramaturg for Kandinsky include shows at the Royal Exchange Manchester, New Diorama London, Schaubuhne Berlin and Schauspielhaus Wien. Kandinsky’s new show More Life will debut at the Royal Court Theatre in 2025. Beyond Kandinsky, she has worked extensively as a dramaturg, most recently on the award-winning My Mother’s Funeral: The Show for Paines Plough, which will transfer to SoHo Playhouse New York and the Yard Theatre London in 2025.

Before going freelance, Lauren worked for Clean Break Theatre Company from 2016-18, where she produced all the company’s work in prisons and co-edited their monologue collection Rebel Voices (Methuen, 2019). She is a graduate of the University of East Anglia’s Creative Writing (Prose) MA and the Royal Court Writers Group. She has also written about arts and culture for Exeunt, The Stage and The Guardian, and co-writes audio drama for Big Finish with her husband, Stewart Pringle. She lives with Stewart and their small Greek tortoise, Sacher Tort, in south London.
