Rebecca Jayne Philipson grew up in a mining town in County Durham, where she still lives. Educated in a small convent, she deferred her university degree to set up her own business at 21. Rebecca went on to become North East Young Entrepreneur of the Year and won the Artemis Award for inspirational women in business.

Rebecca finished her BA in English Literature at Northumbria University, graduating with First Class Honours, and completed a PGCE in English at Durham University whilst on maternity leave. After returning to her business, Rebecca also lectured part-time in Literature and Language in Newcastle. Having sold her business in 2020, Rebecca is now devoted to her writing career. She is a graduate of the University of East Anglia Masters Program in Creative Writing.

In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys travelling, hiking, live music and spending time with friends and family.

Rebecca is working on her first novel, How to Get Away with Murder,  which has been long-listed for the Exeter Novel award 2023.
