Sarah Young is a former journalist from New Zealand. She graduated with an MA in Creative Writing with distinction from the University of East Anglia in 2014, where she was the UEA Booker scholarship recipient. She is currently undertaking a PhD in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington. She has previously worked in the UK, United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and New Zealand.

She has been long listed for the Bath Short Story award, the BBC National Short Story award, and the Masters Review Winter Short Story award, and was a finalist in the 2022 Curt Johnson Prose Award for Fiction. She has published short stories in journals such as December, as well as essays in Hinterland magazine and others. She has twice been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

She is currently working on her first novel.
