In 2025, DHA are delighted to be celebrating our 90th year at the forefront of the international literary and publishing landscape.
We were originally founded by David Higham together with Nancy Pearn and Laurence Pollinger as Pearn, Pollinger & Higham. The agency has grown to represent a remarkable and diverse list of writers and literary estates across fiction, non-fiction, children’s books and poetry in the English language and translation across the world.
Our client list now includes Booker Prize winners, bestselling novelists, celebrated historians and commentators, and some of the world’s most enduring literary estates. Our Film, TV and Stage department has an exceptional track record in optioning the rights in authors’ books to some of the world’s leading producers, as well as managing the careers of original screenwriters and playwrights.
We are excited to announce a range of exciting plans to celebrate our ninetieth year.
To mark this milestone we have selected 90 key titles from our rich bestselling literary heritage, and will be posting regular celebrations around these landmark books on our social media channels before adding the books as a new curated collection on the DHA website. Highlighted books include greatest hits such as The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark, Matilda by Roald Dahl and The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham as well as many classics due for rediscovery.
Our agents are also creating a series of reels for a 90th birthday social media campaign aiming to demystify the world of agenting and publishing and celebrate the diverse literary tastes of agents today in order to attract the next generation of prize-winning authors.
A new Volunteering Programme is also being launched in 2025, offering DHA staffers annual paid leave so that they have time to support a cause that inspires them.
Managing Director Lizzy Kremer said: “Our big 90th birthday offers us a great excuse to look back and to marvel at the literary heritage which is the foundation of our work today. But it also acts as a spur to review who we are as a business and to look ahead to the future with purpose and creative commitment. We couldn’t be prouder of the authors we represent in 2025 and the people who work for DHA – and its clients – today.”
