Mick Herron has received the CWA Diamond Dagger

We are so proud to share the news that our client Mick Herron has received the prestigious 2025 Diamond Dagger award from the Crime Writers’ Association. Awarded to writers who have made a lifetime contribution to the genre, and chosen by CWA members, industry experts, and past Diamond Dagger winners, we are delighted to see Mick getting such deserved recognition for the impact his books have made worldwide.

Mick’s books have delighted and thrilled readers since his first novel, Down Cemetery Road, the first book in the Zoë Boehm series, was published in 2003. His Slough House series, beginning with Slow Horses, was first published in 2010 and has now been translated into 25 languages. Dead Lions and Spook Street both won CWA Daggers in 2013 and 2017 respectively, and the series has been adapted into an internationally renowned and beloved Apple TV+ show starring Oscar-winner Gary Oldman. The Apple TV+ adaptation of the Zoë Boehm series starring Emma Thompson and Ruth Wilson is also in the works.

Chair of the CWA, Vaseem Khan, said of Mick’s award: “I am delighted that the Diamond Dagger judges have picked Mick as their recipient this year. Few could be more deserving. Mick is the quintessential writers’ writer and his Slough House novels have, by general consensus, reinvented the spy thriller, going on to delight millions on the page and onscreen. The Diamond Dagger is a fitting tribute to a writer whose work has become both cultural marker and record of our time.”

Mick said: “I’ve spent the best part of my life – not the majority of it; just the best part – in the crime writers’ community, and to receive this accolade from these friends and colleagues is both a career highlight and a personal joy. I’m touched and thrilled beyond measure, and will try to live up to the honour.”

Mick Herron could truly not be more deserving of such an honour, and we are so proud to represent him.
