Laura Davis was born in The Potteries, educated in Dublin and Nottingham, and finally moved to the North East, where she remains.
She has worked as a blackjack dealer, which was problematic, as she has dyscalculia, so she’s terrible at understanding and working with numbers. She also worked as a jazz singer, which was more successful but rarely paid the bills. So, she took a degree in fine art and became a painter, but soon found out that this, too, could lead to penury. It’s that dyscalculia again. Finally, she took refuge in writing, which she had wanted to do from the very beginning.
She believes in magic and kindness, chocolate, good coffee and cats.
